Panipat: The Great Betrayal is another epic historical Hindi Drama from Ashutosh Gowarikar of Lagaan fame. Set in the backdrop of the Third Battle of Panipat, it recounts the saga of the bravery of enormous magnitude. It chronicles the events that unfolded in 1761 during the battle between the Maratha Empire and the Durrani Empire, leaving a lasting impact on Indian history.

Synopsis:

The story builds around the life and sacrifice of a little acclaimed  Maratha Warrior – Sadashiv Rao Bhau. With no motive to fight alongside the Mughals against the invaders, an army with limited resources marches thousands of miles to thwart the might of the Afghan army led by Ahmed Shah Abdali. In this epic battle, Bhau sacrificed his life, but the victorious Afghans never returned to invade India again.
