After a haul of 2 years, the Yellow Fever is going viral in the current 11th edition of the Indian Premiere League. With 2 massive victories, and one defeat that was closely chased, CSK players are attempting their best comeback in the competitive league.

Here’s looking at the past significant match played by team CSK:

Sunday, 15th April – KXIP versus Chennai Super Kings

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK Skipper put in his best efforts to chase a huge total of 197 runs scored by KXIP.  The match also witnessed the end of Suresh Raina’s unbeatable association with CSK in IPL 11, owing to a calf injury.

Raina holds the record for the most number of matches in the T20 league.  He has represented CSK in 158 matches, which include the IPL and the defunct T20 series.

Raina has been a significant player to CSK since its inaugural season in 2008. Having participated in all the matches, excepting the last one played by CSK opposite KXIP.

The injury was caused during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk on Tuesday 10th April. However, Raina is keen to play against Rajasthan Royals in the upcoming match on Friday, 20th April. Raina’s record is trailed by Virat Kohli’s 144 matches with Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Chris Gayle put out a stunning act upon his return to the IPL in KXIP, scoring 50 runs off 22 balls, when they set out to bat first, and effortlessly hitting 7 boundaries and 4 sixes in his tenure, making a total of 63 runs out of mere 33 balls.  The home team received immense appreciation for setting up a huge total of 197 at the loss of 7 at the end of 20 overs.

In his support, players Lokesh Rahul scored 37 runs while Mayank Aggarwal made another 30, to sustain the team’s combined effort to pull off a high total.

CSK tried hard to make it through and fell short of just 4 runs in the final over.  This marked CSK’s first defeat in IPL 2018, after victories over Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Chennai’s home ground was changed to Pune from Chepauk after protesters hurled stones into the stadium, owing to political concerns surrounding the Cauvery Management Board.

However, Maharashtra suffers from water shortages in the summer season, and hence, Bombay Court has requested the MCA to use sewage treated water instead of drinking water for ground maintenance.

It will be interesting to see CSK and Rajasthan Royals competing on the 20th of April, given that both teams are making their official comeback in IPL 11th season.  Watch LIVE cricket matches, make bookings on BookMyShow.
