A massive hit in recent times by both the lead actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. The movie has given both the director and the producers a win-win situation as the box office collection reaches to about $40 million in the opening week. This movie has been the biggest opening collection for the director in his entire career. The movie has also competed to break the records set by Inglourious Basterds in 2009. Having bigger names in the cast and crew is a major add-on to the movie success rate. The movie is said to be a cultural nostalgia by the director. The movie also is a great tribute to the classic Hollywood era as the storyline, timeline and actors have done justice to the script. The movie has received great response rating through rotten tomatoes of about 86%.

The story revolves around made-up TV actor, Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), and his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) over a time frame of 3 days. The movie tries to bring back the energy of the Hollywood era seen in the early days. The movie has many real-life character portrayals like that of actress  Sharon Tate and the death scenario, the victim of Mason family Tate-Labianca murders. These were showcased to show the fantasy that existed in the late 1960s in Los Angeles.

This movie is the fourth periodic masterpiece of the Tarantino. The movie has a violent climax, requires a lot of attention to all the details and intense dialogues. But the direction has been done leisurely, so there are few pacing issues. The portrayal is done in such a way that there are portions which show Hollywood's dusty side and worn-out sets. This, kind of sets an image of movie making and Hollywood sacred art.
