Upcoming Bollywood Movie - Prithviraj

Riding on the success of Mangalyaan, Akshay Kumar announced the launch of a historical biopic based on the life of one of the most talked-about legendary twelfth-century king, Prithviraj Chauhan.  The film is titled simply as Prithviraj and is slated for release during the Diwali week in 2020. The upcoming movie was launched under the Aditya Chopra headed Yash Raj banner to be written and directed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi of Pinjar fame. The Legend of Prithviraj:

Prithviraj Chauhan’s (1162 to 1192 CE) empire extended over present-day North-Western India with his capital in the modern Ajmer. The tales of valor of this legendary king are common folklore for centuries. Most of it is sourced from the Prithviraj Raso, the epic Brajbhasi epic poem authored by Chand Bardai. Having resisted his nemesis, Mohammed of Ghor with his singular acts of bravery, he was finally vanquished in the Second Battle of Tarain in 1192 CE.

• The upcoming movie is tentatively set for release on 19th November 2020.
• The budget is slated to be US$ 25 million. 
• The launch date of Prithviraj on 9th September coincides with the 52nd birthday of Akshay Kumar, and the film is touted as a gift on his special day. 
• The storyline of Prithviraj is indicative through the unveiled teaser which depicts the sword-wielding Samrat atop a horse leading his army to war. 

Films of Akshay Kumar:Recent films of Akshay Kumar have seen a distinct direction; portraying meaningful themes. The war drama, Kesari was based on the valor of 21 Sikh soldiers who laid down their lives in the Battle of Saragarhi battling a posse of 10000 Afghans. Films like Baby, Padman,  Airlift, Naam Shabana have all earned commercial as well as critical success. His forthcoming films are Laxmi Bomb and Sooryavanshi. The portrayal of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan shall be a crowning glory for the star.
