In the year 2019, some great movies are being churned out from Hollywood, the Mecca of English language films. The Parts You Lose is one such upcoming movie that sketches relationship and loyalty between a deaf boy and a fugitive criminal. The Hollywood movie revolves around their friendship that brings forth myriad shades of human behavior. Shot in Winnipeg, Canada, the film is directed by Christopher Cantwell. Image result for the parts you loseSynopsis:

The Parts You Lose unfolds the story of a 10-year-old deaf boy Wesley who lives in a small farm in North Dakota. At home, he has a doting mother and a sister, but his father is rough with him. In school, quite a distance from his home, he is bullied and disregarded. This leaves the boy desolate and withdrawn. Wesley meets an injured man on the way from school one day and nurses him to recovery. They befriend each other, but the man turns out to be a criminal on the run. The man transforms Wesley by teaching him to stand up to the bully as well as his father. It is a showdown of emotions and loyalty when the police catch up with his fugitive friend.  He must choose between the right and the wrong.

The Parts You Lose had its premiere in The Sun Valley Film Festival in Idaho on 14th March 2019. Subsequently, it was also screened in at the Stony Brook Film Festival on 26th July 2019. 

It will be commercially released in theatres in the USA under the aegis of Samuel Goldwyn Films on 4th October 2019.

  • The genre of the film is mystery, suspense, and drama.
  • The film spans  93 minutes. 
  • For authenticity in the use of sign language, the students, staff, and teachers of Manitoba School for the Deaf were actively involved in the film.
