Pagalpanti will make you laugh like crazy: Movie Review

January 24 2020 , Written by Pratik Shelar

If you are a fan of Anees Bazmee’s direction in comedy flicks like the Welcome series, No Problem and No Entry, then you must be eagerly waiting for his latest venture Pagalpanti. The movie is an action-comedy attempt by Bazmee in his signature style of comic storytelling. The ensemble star cast includes John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz, Arshad Warsi, Urvashi Rautela, Saurabh Shukla, Pulkit Samrat and many more such actors who have already made audiences laugh with their comic timing.

Even with such a fantastic cast and an experienced director, the movie is not at all up to the mark. The story follows three men and two ladies who make a plan to steal money from two gangsters who are deeply connected to the underworld. Although the plots seem similar to other movies by the director, still the movie lacks the punch and funny one-liners, which were the highlights of Anees’s earlier films. The screenplay is not as fast-paced as it should have been and after a few scenes into the movie, you will understand that the movie is going to be boring because of the non-funny dialogues and senseless situations.

The movie seems highly derived from the 80’s comedy movies of Govinda, and many of the scenes will remind you of the same. The scenes are stretched in practice for making them funnier, but it feels exhausting as an audience to watch the actors try so hard to make us laugh on such a weak storyline.

The songs are also not much of a crowd-pleaser, and after a point of time, they feel like a wake-up call in this snoozefest. With the elongated climax sequence, you will hope for a better movie from such a talented ensemble in the future. This movie is skippable.
